Week 9: Technology Use Scenario

Hello Everyone,

During this particular blog post I will be stating a technology use scenario regarding an individual misusing or correctly utilizing a technological tool.  Thus, following the scenario a question has been stated; ultimately pertaining to the issue presented within the realm of the question.

Scenario 10:
"Kevin has just purchased the latest video game. Too fast '22. He and his friends enjoy playing games on their gaming systems. His best friend Vince also likes to play video games, but doesn't have the money to buy the latest games. Kevin decides to be a good friend and install a copy of his game on Vince's system. Does sharing games, music, or movies hurt anyone?"

My Personal Views:
Firstly, I truly believe that this particular utilization of the video game system is not being used to its intended purpose. In particular, it is apparent that Kevin is unaware that the action of copying games, music, or movies is illegal and a true violation of the creator’s privacy and intellectual property. Moreover, this particular notion has been previously mentioned by Michelle Langill’s blog post in which stresses the fact that copyright of any nature is truly an “illicit behavior”. The notion that Kevin was simply just trying to help out a good friend does not justify performing an illegal act due to the fact that he is robbing the creator of not only credit, but potential profits for the game itself.

Solution:
On a personal level, the only possible solution that could solve this particular problem would be to find a way to legally purchase the video game from a store or online. Furthermore, effectively saving up enough money to purchase the video game allows for the creator to receive the deserved credit and profits in which are evidently deserved.

How do you feel about this particular topic? Is the notion of copying games, videos, and music seriously harmful to anyone at all? Have your say!

Moreover, this informative tool allows for people to efficiently and effectively communicate with one another even if they live far away from one another; suggestively providing the ultimate convenience for the tools users.

VoiceThread and My PLE:
On a personal level, I would add this collaborative and informative tool within the communicative area, which is present within the confines of the collaborating and socializing section of my PLE. In addition, the VoiceThread tool would be added to this particular area because it permits for individuals to interact and ultimately communicate with peers in an educational setting and fellow coworkers for various projects. Moreover, this tool could also be placed under the practicing digital responsibility sector of my own PLE based on the fact that it is crucially important for individuals to courteous and respectful to those who they may be interacting with on a day-to-day basis.
What does everyone else believe? Can this particular tool be used in a different manner? Could it fit under others areas of a PLE? I would enjoy reading your thoughts and opinions on this!
