Week 7: Cole's Weekly Report & Reflection Post

Hello Everyone!

This week I was able to utilize the Google Docs application and effectively discover and organize various bits of information in preparation for a collaborative group project I am currently working on within the ADED 1P32 course. In addition, I also utilized the Google Slides application in which allows for me to produce a slideshow presentation and productively work on a piece of work at the same time as other members within a specified group. I found the entirety of the Google Docs application to be extremely useful because it allowed for an individual like me to gather and collaboratively distribute pieces of information in a virtual group setting; ultimately being useful throughout the chorus of any group project in the ADED 1P32 course itself.

What Will Stay & What Will Go! – My PLE:
While exploring the Google Docs and Google Slides applications, I was able to realize which previously explored tools I should effectively remove or replace within the confines of my own PLE. Personally, I realized that I did not really need to remove any of the tools in which I have acquired throughout this particular academic journey due to the fact that every tool adds to my skill set and development as a digital citizen. Moreover, having realized this vital piece of information, I have found that being able to effectively multitask with each and every obtained tool will permit for me to succeed within the digital realm throughout my personal and career orientated goals and
potential achievements.

The Benefits of Collaboration:
Throughout the chorus of working collaboratively for a group project in the ADED 1P32 course, I truly feel that I have been able to build upon my overall knowledge in an effective manner. In particular, I believe that collaborating through the utilization of Google Docs, Evernote, and TodaysMeet has permitted for an individual like me to effectively open my eyes to how efficient and accessible individuals can connect and complete various tasks with one another on a virtual scale. Thus, these particular collaborative experiences permitted for me to experience and obtain insight into how others absorb and collect various pieces of information in an academic setting.

Weekly Reader Item!
This week I found an article through my feedly (via Venture Beat), which outlines the necessity for Mobile Device Management in the daily functions of a business. Personally, I thought this would be a useful article for many of my colleagues to read; suggestively providing an insight into operating a successful business!

That’s it for this week!

  1. Cole,

I agree with you and think that tools like Google Docs, Evernote and TodaysMeet have made me a much more organized and effective group member! I love the fact that Google Docs allows multiple people to edit the same document, making it so much easier to do your part! I remember emailing my section of a project or assignment to a designated "leader" and having them organize the entire thing. Then, on the day that it is due, you are surprised with what the final document looks like because you left that part in the hands of someone else! Google Docs makes it easy to make sure everyone is happy with how things are layed out and presented!

    Cheers, Karlee

  2. Hi Cole,

I also believe that Google Docs has allowed me to collaborate with my peers much more efficiently. Rather than sending around one Word document, we can now easily work on our own parts simultaneously!
